New ISO Standard for MEWP controls
An important step for increasing MEWP safety
Last week IPAF announced the introduction of a new International Standard regarding operator controls of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs).
The new standard, ISO 21455:2020, was published in April and aims to increase safety by standardising all aspects of MEWP operator controls, including the location, orientation and method of operation.
The ISO standard for MEWP controls was developed over a decade and was a global effort with collaborations between IPAF, its members and the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
