Putting up Christmas lights?
Read IPAF's The Safe Use of MEWPs in Public Areas before you start.
Now it’s November, and Halloween is out the way it certainly feels like it is full speed ahead to Christmas. With so much to do, it can be tempting to cut corners and take the quick route with jobs like decorating, but IPAF is urging anyone putting up decorations to stop and take a moment to ensure they are following all necessary safety procedures. It’s when we rush and take shortcuts that accidents happen after all.
IPAF’s Safe Use of MEWPs in Public Areas
Earlier this year, IPAF published new technical guidance, ‘The Safe Use of MEWPs in Public Areas‘. The 24-page document outlines the main risks involved in working at height with MEWPs in public areas and how to manage them. This includes working during hours of darkness, in bad weather and alongside roads or in busy town centres. All of which are relevant to putting up festive displays at this time of year.
The full document is free to view and available to download now from IPAF’s website – www.ipaf.org.
