Building maintenance in Cambridge City Centre
Background
We were contracted to do some building maintenance and gutter clearing work in Cambridge.
The challenges
Most of the building work was along the main road. We, therefore, had to ensure we had the correct barriers around the machine to stop the public from walking underneath the booms and also to ensure the free flow of traffic on the other side of the road.
Our solution
We hired out our 21m CTE 21.3JHL truck-mounted platform for the building maintenance work. The double pantograph and telescopic boom allows for work vertically up a structure and the zero tail swing makes it suitable for work in live traffic situations such as this.
Using the standard equipment that we carry on our vans and trucks, we created a safe working area around the machine, which we moved along the road with us as the work progressed. Part of the building work required access from a small side road that was also used by vehicles. For this part of the work, we used an extra person to act as traffic management.
The job ran smoothly, and the transitions from place to place went without any problems.
